The National Conservation Commission, a statutory corporation within the Government of Barbados, is seeking to recruit a knowledgeable, experienced and energetic individual to join its management team as Human Resources Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of the HR function in accordance with applicable policies, labour laws and organisational objectives.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the recruitment, selection and onboarding process for staff.
- Develop and administer annual training and performance appraisal systems.
- Negotiate with workers’ representatives on wages, conditions of service and collective agreements.
- Maintain personnel records and monitor human resource activities.
- Supervise the staff of the Human Resources & Administration Department
- Ensure appropriate discipline and compliance with collective agreements and labour law.
- Prepare and submit to the General Manager monthly reports on activities within the area of responsibility;
- Advise senior management on human resource matters.
- Any other related duties as assigned by the General Manager or his designate.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or in a related discipline; and not less than six years’ experience in human resource management or human resource development; OR
- A degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or in a related discipline, and not less than seven years’ experience in human resource management or human resource development; OR
- A degree and a diploma in Human Resources Management, and not less than seven years’ experience in human resource management or human resource development.
- Proven knowledge of Barbados labour laws, industrial relations, employee recruitment and HR best practices.
- Experience with HR information systems and performance management platforms preferred.
